At the age of nine, Clinton “Junior” Phillips is busy racking up the medals on the athletics tracks.

This boy has enormous talent

The Hopefield Primary Primary School boy showed his heels to his opponents on Saturday 4 March 2023 at Daljosafat Athletics Track in Paarl.  Junior, who celebrates his 10th birthday on the 26 March, won both the 800m and 1200m races in which he competed.
According to his coach Nico Louw, his heart swelled with pride when he received the news. He could not make the trip to Paarl due to other interests.
Louw also praised Amy van Wyk (10y) who was second in her race.   WCSS spoke to Louw on Monday about the three athletes under his coaching.   “Along with Junior and Amy, the other athlete is Javan Adams (16 years old)    Junior and Amy is in action again on the Daljosafat stadium this coming Saturday, and all three athletes can still qualify for the SA Open, according to Louw.
