The fishing community of Velddrif on the West Coast founded a wrestling club in March this year, and won medals with their first participation in a competition.

According to one of the founding members of the club, Mcnolan Plaatjies, the aim is to improve the Youth of tomorrow’s hand balance and eye coordination. Also to improve young people’s concentration and largely avoid the evils in our communities through sport.

The club recently took part in their first tournament on May 4. 2024, namely the Abraham Geldenhuys WP Open Wrestling competition and won 5 medals.
