CCS Alumini Performs at SA Championships

Clanwilliam: Luseatin Fryer, a talented young athlete from the Cederberg municipality and alumnus of Clanwilliam Senior Secondary School (CSS), has been making waves in athletics.

Competing at the SA Athletics Meet held at Daljosephat Stadium in Paarl from April 3 to 6, 2024, Fryer delivered an outstanding performance, earning accolades for his school and community.

Fryer, who attended CSS until Grade 9, was known for his exceptional talent in athletics and cross-country, excelling under the mentorship of coach Cor Nieuwoudt. His athletic journey continued to flourish when Riaan Ruiters took over as his coach, pushing him to achieve even greater milestones..

In 2023, Fryer transferred to Saldanha Bay, where he is now a Grade 10 learner. This move proved pivotal as it opened new doors for his athletic career. At the Boland Athletics Meeting, Fryer claimed gold in the 800m, silver in the 1500m, and bronze in the 400m, earning him a spot on the Western Cape team. Competing at the provincial level, he dominated the track with gold in the 400m and 800m and bronze in the 1500m, securing his place at the national SA Athletics Meet.

At the SA Championships, Fryer impressed once again, winning gold in the 400m and 800m and silver in the 1500m. His exceptional performance earned him South African colors, a proud moment for the young athlete and his family.

hortly after, Fryer represented his country at a competition in Swakopmund, Namibia, from April 16 to 21. He brought home gold in the 800m and bronze in the 400m, making his mother, Ilene Fryer, incredibly proud.

Fryer dreams of dedicating his life to athletics and aspires to compete at the Olympics one day. However, as the son of a single parent, he is seeking sponsorships to help turn his dream into reality. His passion, dedication, and consistent performance make him a promising athlete and a source of inspiration for many young sports enthusiasts..
