As 2024 comes to an end, we celebrate the extraordinary athletic career of Leander Pholman, a young talent from Langebaan and graduate of Saldanha Bay Special School.
Leander has achieved what few can: breaking records, dominating competitions, and inspiring his community. With unwavering determination and natural talent, he has proven himself a force to be reckoned with on the track.
A Record-Breaking Journey
Leander’s achievements speak volumes about his dedication and discipline:
At the Boland Senior Championships (March 2024), he claimed gold medals in the 200m, 400m, and 1500m events, along with a team victory in the 4x100m relay.
At the Western Cape Elsen Championships (April 2024), he continued his dominance with gold in the 200m, 400m, and 1500m events, earning the title of Western Cape Elsen Champion.
His crowning moment came at the South African National Elsen Championships (March 2024, Germiston), where he won gold in the 400m and 800m, and placed highly in the 200m and 1500m.
These victories highlight his versatility and talent in both speed and endurance events.
Recognized Excellence
Leander’s remarkable achievements earned him the prestigious nomination for Sportsman of the Year with a Disability 2024 by the Western Cape District Sports Awards.
